This year, we anticipate the pendulum will keep moving towards online and mobile purchasing with even more momentum.

As for 2018, we see a lot of the trends continuing to grow and technology sharpening to provide a better shopping experience to consumers.
The 2017 holiday shopping season saw more mobile spending than ever before. With the overall increase in smartphone use, the increase in mobile sales should not be a surprise to anyone who is paying attention to the mobile space. Retailers will be set to capitalize better on mobile traffic, which they have struggled to accomplish in the past.
Mobile shopping will be even smarter this year. AI will help retailers provide custom offerings to shoppers. New technology like augmented reality can provide shoppers with a store-like experience that can guide their purchasing for a better overall experience.
Holiday spending followed the preceding trend by growing as a whole last year. There is no indication that this year will see anything but continued growth. While online and mobile holiday shopping growth are especially noteworthy, stores continue to see traffic grow as well.
